Following 5 accidents where bicyclists were struck by moving vehicles in the last year, one activist group in Omaha Nebraska took a. unique approach to solve the problem.
Early one Monday morning, they placed 120 toilet plungers along the dangerous road to show what a protected bike lane might do for traffic there.
“We had hoped to have 36 hours to do a quick impromptu study showing how the traffic slowed down with the plungers,” Stuart Nottingham told local reporters.
