Giraffe Manor is the only place in the world where, at any moment, a giraffe is likely to pop its head through the window and steal your breakfast bun.

The property is located on 140 acres of land just outside Nairobi and the 80 year old manor house itself has long been one of the city’s most iconic buildings.

Since being transformed into a boutique hotel in 1984, guests have been enjoying the once-in-a-lifetime experience of being up close and personal with the unusual other residents.

These gentle giants are in fact Rothschild’s giraffes, one of the most endangered sub species, and between 8 and 15  of them live here at any one time.

The Manor has been praised for its work on rearing and re-introducing this species of giraffe into the wild, and has had made a real impact on improving their dwindling numbers.feeding-time-at-giraffe-manor-2

Every morning and evening the giraffes slowly emerge from the woodlands and amble across the lawns in search of snacks.

While the humans tuck into plates of eggs and toast or gin and tonics, the giraffes are here for the grass and molasses cakes, provided by the manor and dished out by the mesmerized guests.

The hotel is pretty exclusive, with a bed in one of the 10 rooms costing US $500 per person for full board and drinks.

Previous guests have included Mick Jagger, Ewan McGregor, Brooke Shields and Richard Branson.

However for those with the cash this is a great way to have one of the most memorable breakfasts on earth while also supporting a good cause.
