This U.S. couple had a dream. To build a tiny mobile house and cross the United States and Canada to meet other tiny house owners and film the adventure.
And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Alexis Stephens and Christian Parsons built themselves a 12 square metre wooden house on wheels. The cabin, which is almost entirely made from recycled materials, includes a kitchen, small porch with hanging chair, bathroom with shower and loft space used as a bedroom. Building most of the project themselves, they bought the cost of their new home to under $20,000.
With such a diverse spread of tiny house people, they are now creating a documentary series which focuses on the tiny house community and the grassroots housing projects which make this movement so dynamic. In the Texan town of Spur, they found a community of tiny homes who are looking to become the tiny house capital of the US.
The idea is to inspire and empower more people to build smaller and more sustainably, living lives which are more meaningful and connected to the communities around them. To find out more about the project, visit tinyhouseexpedition.com.
