Artist Patrick Dougherty combines his carpentry and love of nature to create these amazing houses and sculptures from living trees.

In the early 1980s Dougherty began experimenting with different materials including tree saplings. From relatively simple pieces of individual art, he quickly scaled up the work to huge sculptures, huts and cocoons that required lorry loads of the young trees.

Over the last thirty years he’s built more than 250 pieces from Scotland to Japan, many of which have won awards.
