Over unimaginable lengths of time, the forces of nature can shape and mold even the hardest stone into all manner of surprising shapes. The natural human instinct to see faces where they don’t exist is known as pareidolia, and is often enjoyed while looking at clouds and rock formations. However, there are definitely some faces lurking in these famous and not so famous sites from around the world.
The Guardian – Alberta, Canada
Although it looks like a face of a Native American with a fancy headdress from above, this formation in Alberta, Canada, is entirely natural. Nicknamed the “Badlands Guardian,” it’s actually a valley eroded into the clay.
There’s a road and an oil well creating, what some people have called, his headphones. How perfect.
